The creative inspiration for this work stems from the legendary street artist Lady Pink. As an iconic figure in New York`s graffiti movement, she is known as the "Graffiti First Lady," bringing art to urban public walls with bold, vibrant colors and dynamic visual symbols. She has broken down aesthetic barriers in public spaces, proving that street art can be more than just underground expression, it can also become part of the city`s public narrative. Her works are collected by world-class art museums, granting graffiti art recognition within the mainstream art community. The core essence of her creation is to infuse cities with diverse voices through vivid visual language.
The theme of Lunar Festival of Lights, "Urban Pulse" in our understanding, is not merely the physical rhythm of traffic and pedestrian flow but also the inner spiritual heartbeat of a city. A vibrant city embodies both the solemnity of historical accumulation and the dynamic, intriguing expressions of contemporary vitality. Based on this understanding, we created "Pink Punk." The work is projected onto the Sofia Parliament Complex, a solemn public building that embodies the city`s historical memory, serving as our canvas. We continue the creative spirit of Lady Pink, using highly saturated pink as the primary visual tone, and integrate collage-style cartoon symbols, fragmented and reassembled geometric shapes, and bizarrely lively biological imagery to construct a visual language brimming with punk essence.
We do not seek to confront the established order, but rather employ a playful and light aesthetic to deconstruct the rigid and solemn perception of architecture. The fluid and dynamic mapping art constantly shifts on the building`s facade, akin to the city`s pulsing heartbeat. This allows the exterior of historical buildings to resonate with the vibrant echoes of the contemporary urban landscape, enabling public spaces to hear the diverse voices of the city.
